REASONS TO CHOOSE KEELE MANAGEMENT SCHOOL | 7 Bringing high quality research into teaching Both through the work of individuals: KMS Economics Lecturer, Dr Gabriella Legrenzi was invited to join the prestigious World Economic Survey (WES) experts group of the Ifo Institute because of her expert knowledge of the Italian economy. And through our collaborative approach: KMS Professor Mihaela Kelemen founded Keele University’s Community Animation and Social Innovation Centre (CASIC). The Cultural Animation methodology has been used to co-create knowledge on diverse topics such as volunteering (keele.ac.uk/volunteeringstories), personal community (keele.ac.uk/ exploringpersonalcommunities), community asset mapping, energy poverty and energy use/reduction, sustainability, ageing, violence, exclusion, communities in crisis (keele.ac.uk/bridgingthedivide), within multiple community settings in the UK, Canada, Japan, Greece and Poland. Opportunities to network and meet a variety of employers and organisations We engage with employers and organisations in a variety of ways. We value their input into our module content, work with them to offer Applied Company Research projects and invite them to speak on our programmes whenever possible. Employers are vital to the delivery of the Creativity and Personal Development module whe re they share their real world business problems with students who are tasked to come up with creative and innovative solutions. This prepares you well for an Applied Company Research project where you will spend the summer working on a commercially relevant project for a local organisation. Use Bloomberg like the professionals Students on our Finance programmes use the Bloomberg Professional Services Platform in exactly the same way as finance service professionals. Our dedicated laboratory provides access to the same data and technology that is relied upon by the finance profession around the world. Students are also able to complete Bloomberg Market Concepts, an 8 hour self-paced course on economic indicators, currencies, fixed income and equities demonstrating their practical knowledge of how to use Bloomberg which will be a valuable asset for a career in the financial industry or in academia. “The Applied Company Research project provided me with a fantastic opportunity to set myself apart from the mass of university graduates. I worked as a consultant at a software company, Secret Attic Software which I believe accentuated my portfolio when applying to graduate schemes. Luke Mackenzie, MA International Business As a result of the experiences I had whilst at Keele Management School, I will be embarking on a graduate scheme at Ernst and Young where I hope to take the consulting skills I gained over the summer to make a profound impact on the world of business.” keele.ac.uk/kms
