Marketing in a digital age

KMS Marketing Lecturer , Jamie Bailey , has designed and will deliver , a new Digital Marketing module as part of the undergraduate dual-honours marketing programme . Here he explains the rationale behind it .
“ To continue our commitment to further making our modules and course relevant in an ever-changing global environment , in 2015 the Marketing group at KMS have introduced new elements into some of the curriculum that reflect changes in marketing theory and practice . The first of these changes is the introduction of a new Digital Marketing module that will focus on the issues and choices facing firms who choose a digital route to marketing , the strategies that they employ , how this meets the needs of their customers , and how they can measure the success , or not , of their campaigns . Assessment will centre on local businesses , enabling students to potentially put their ideas and approaches into practice , gain relevant experience and increase their employability skills .”

Debating the digital society in the House of Lords

Marketing and Politics student , Joe Porter , recently represented Keele University at the annual House of Lords Chamber debate : ‘ In a digital society , is politics for politicians or is everyone a decision maker ?’
Joe told us “ The outstanding opportunity of being able to speak in the House of Lords chamber was an incredible experience and one which I will remember as one of the best days in my life . I voted for the 2nd motion ‘ We should include more expert advice via online conferences and / or community consultation ’ which won with a large majority ”
