Venture / HELLO 13
Keele Management School gave me
the principle skills to understand
business and I used these skills in
setting up my own IT recruitment
firm – Right Time Recruitment.
I developed the most as a person
at Keele and made lifelong friends.
James White returns to Keele Management School
What led you to apply for
The Apprentice?
“I’d always had an entrepreneurial spirit,
I’d always watched the show and read
Lord Sugar’s book, I put my application
in and managed to get on the show
and the rest is history.”
Its a really intense process to put
yourself through, so what drove
you to keep going week after week?
“Each week that went on, the closer I was
to the end goal. If you get to the final five,
then its all about your business and I know
my business inside and out and I backed
myself at that point, just have to give it
100% for every task every week.”
You experienced what it was like
in both the winning and losing
team throughout the show.
How did this make you feel? How do you think studying
at Keele and in the Keele
Management School prepared
you for The Apprentice?
“Being in the boardroom during the first few
weeks was a good experience as it allowed
me to give a good account of myself and to
point out the flaws in the other contestants.
Who wouldnt want to have questions fired
at them by Lord Sugar himself?” “I developed the most as a person at Keele.
In terms of the Management School, it gave
me the principles to understand business
and although a lot of it you can apply to
a work principle, I took a lot and applied
it to my own business.”
What do you miss the most
about Keele Un iversity?
“The thing I miss most are the people.
Its a very close knit family and my closest
friends are from Keele.”
