n Monday 7th September Professor Kurt Allman,
Director of KMS welcomed the Dean of the
School of Labor Economics, Professor Xiliang
Feng, Deputy Dean, Professor Wei Fan, and Dr Quan
Meng, Lecturer in Employment Relations from CUEB to
Keele. CUEB is ranked 6th in the subject of finance and
economics in China, and the School of Labor Economics
is the first such kind in the country providing degree
education and academic research on labour relations.
The two schools met to discuss the existing research
collaborations on industrial relations, especially the
successful Leverhulme International Network project,
and the prospect of enhancing the link by establishing a
joint research centre on UK-China comparative industrial
relations. Issues of bi-lateral staff visits, student exchange
and further research collaboration on business and
economics were also discussed. A proposal was discussed
for the establishment of a UK-China Research Centre for
Comparative Industrial Relations.
It was agreed that building on the current links, the two
schools would strengthen the strategic partnership through
the commitment to promote a closer collaboration on
teaching, learning and research in the years to come.
