SUMMER ESL CAMP 2013 - BRACLASS OF 2013 A Message from Graduation 2013 BY ALICIA DOOKS, ‘13 I NEVER would have expected a school like Kingsway to have such positive effect on my life. Being able to spend all four years of high school there was nothing short of a blessing. I graduated not only with the grades I wanted, but also the friends I needed. Kingsway allowed me to find the importance of studying by giving me teachers that pushed me to do my best; proving to myself what great things I can achieve. Even if I was to put all academics aside, Kingsway wouldn’t be any less wonderful to me. All the great friendships I had created in my four years at Kingsway have shown me what the important things are in life. Being given the opportunity to grow up in my last teenage years and create those bonds with my friends brought out the great social aspect present at Kingsway. In being a student there I knew that I could go anywhere on campus and be met with a smile. Seeing such pleasant faces everyday really gave me a sense of belonging and being a member of one big family. The involvement opportunities at Kingsway really helped me to learn to be a well-rounded individual, not only having to work on my studies but also being able to play volley-ball and class sports nights. The SA weekend events such as Golden Unicorn and Supper Clubs allowed me to put my school work aside and to relax and just have a good time with all the people at Kingsway. Power weekends and Weeks of Prayer also allowed me to take time from my days and focus on God instead of just work. The most prominent memories from my experience at Kingsway would definitely be all the exciting trips I was able to go on. Educational trips to the Ontario Science Centre, Shakespearian Plays, and the courthouse really brought some fun to learning new things about the subjects at hand. The trips I will remember the most, though, will be all the March Break tours and mission trips. Kingsway gave me the opportunity to see new places while being able to spread the good news of Jesus by serving others. Before I knew it, my time at Kingsway came to an end. Graduation was just around the corner and last time I had checked it was four years away. Time really does go faster when you’re having fun. My class and I had gone through all the stresses of the multiple exam weeks and the joys of class events and trips. We had grown up from the small freshmen to the seniors of 2013. We had been there for each other and God had led us all through the ups and downs of being in high school. Marching down that aisle in the College Park Church and receiving my diploma was a perfect ending to such an important part of my life. Watching my classmates receive their diploma gave a sense of sadness for the fact that we would all soon be parting ways, but it also allowed me to remember all the wonderful times we had spent together, whether in the classroom or on a bus. Kingsway College gave me the best four years of my life so far. I can say nothing more than thank-you for all you put into your students’ lives; giving them excellence to work for and new experiences to discover. n SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE ONLY FROM BBE ! 10% of the sale price is donated towards The Kingsway College Worthy Student Fund Email [email protected] or call 1-866-629-1313 KC Contact I Winter 2013 7
