McKell Lasrich helps Owners and guests experience the magic of Kauai
McKell Lasrich ’ s sparkly smile , infectious personality and big heart have made her a beloved part of the Timbers Kaua ’ i ‘ Ohana .
Born and raised in Utah , the resort ’ s Guest Experience Coordinator has lived on Kauai for 14 years now and is loving every minute of it .
When she came to Timbers in April 2021 , she brought with her 18 years of yoga , health and wellness experience , including owning her own studio for the last six years .
In a recent Talk Story post , she offers her take on the meaning of Aloha , and how she helps to make Owners and guests feel at home . .................................................
TIMBERS KAUA ‘ I
Timbers Kaua ’ i is the place to be on May 1 . Called May Day , the occasion is joyously celebrated statewide by sharing in the Aloha Spirit and tradition of the Hawaiian flower lei .
Lei ( garland or wreath ) making , using flowers , nuts , seeds , leaves , shells or feathers , is a
Hawaiian custom and art form passed down throughout the generations and one of the many activities offered at Timbers Kaua ‘ i .
In traditional style , these garlands were worn by ancient Hawaiians to beautify themselves and distinguish them from others .
Across all of the Hawaiian islands , May Day is typically celebrated with hula dancing , songs and other activities honoring the special day .
Among other sacred uses , it was utilized to signify a peace agreement between opposing chiefs . When presented , the mana ( spirit ) of the lei maker is said to pass to its wearer . .....................................................
