The 16th hole at the Ocean Course at Hokuala hugs the Pacific Ocean coastline and works its way down to Kuki ’ i Point Lighthouse . It can be one of the most exciting challenges on the course .
The best tip to enjoy this breathtaking Jack Nicklaus masterpiece is to have fun , give it all you got , and accept what is or what is not .
For those who haven ’ t played the short par 4 , the green is within reach of a decent drive , but it cannot be seen from the tee box . The fairway slopes all the way down to the green , while also working its way toward the “ little ” water hazard on the left . Good tee shots that turn into the slope will be rewarded with a soft bounce toward the green .
The 16th green is also firm and fast . The best approach shots land short of the pin and funnel to it with the green sloping front-to-back and right-to-left .
Just be cautious not to go over the green as the hidden bunker in back will surely add a stroke or two to your scorecard . Have fun and enjoy ! ....................................................................
