WEP 2016

Sustainability and Climate Change

Chaired by Professor Mark Tester
Plant Science Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering ( BESE ) Division at KAUST
Many of our activities are clearly not sustainable – we are over-exploiting our land , sea , and air , this latter gaining particular attention in the form of climate change . We have to change what we are doing and how we are doing it . Key is innovation , to enable lifestyles to be maintained ( as much as is possible ), but to reduce their environmental footprint ( as much as possible !). And innovation is central to our core business ! This WEP explored how we can use our core business to address the most critical issue facing the long-term existence of humanity on this planet , and our responsible stewardship of this planet .
