The Managers of water resources who are the custodians of all water bodies and resources should strongly object to such activities which negate the very objective of Green Technology concept. The marine culture ponds, apart from making the Ground water saline, also obstructs the free flow of floodwater over the flood plains into the sea causing heavy submersion of crops adversely affecting their yield. 8. Role of stake holders in water resources development and management and in saving water. The major stakeholders in use of water are 1. The Government 4. Municipalities 2. Agricultural producers 5. Technology providers 3. Industries 6.Construction sector Careful and conspicuously economic use of water by the water users saves about 20% of consumption. Every water user should keep in mind that water is becoming a more and more scarce commodity and that there is neither a substitute nor an alternative source for water. The discussions given above reveals that damage to water resources is more from the technology used by the water users of fields other than water resources development (such as industries and municipalities ) even though there is scope for making the technology adopted in water resources development more green. The stake holders should be convinced that water is every body’s property and interest and not only of those who are in charge of it’s development and distribution and that any fall in it’s quantity or quality will affect the society as a whole. Environmental ethics places greater responsibility on engineers in the upkeep of the environment as it is they who as promoters of societal development by engineering activities cause most damage to the environment and have to own up responsibility for environmental degradation. They should aim at developing new techniques and Technology green enough not to damage or deplete the water resources coming into contract with their activities. è † ´ ñ £ ù Š ªð £ P ò £ ÷ ˜ fl;Lkhdg; nghwpahsh; 41 mf;Nlhgh; 2013
