Research Study in a nutshell USE OF Waste Glass Powder in Concrete as cement replacement ? Waste glass powder as cement replacement upto 40% (by 5%). ? With 20% replacement – produces best strong & sulphate resistant source. ? In every site, a lot of broken glass pieces 5% of solid waste glass containers, window glass, windscreens, bottles, tube lights bulbs and electronic equipment – disposal is a problem. ? Concrete in marine structures– deterioration due to sulphate attack due to water penetration & sulphete salt concentration. ? To reduce energy consumption & co2 emission from construction processes. ? Finely divided glass powder as a partial replacement of cement; waste glass – sio2 72.5% - finest powder (0.02311) – sio2 reacts with alkalis in cement (pozzolanic reaction) to form cementitious product with higher strength and durability, besides reduces the sulphate attack in concrete . ? OPC 43 cement – sand with sp.gty 2.62; broken stone (Coarse aggregate) sp.gty 2.93…20mm down size water with pH value 6.50 – superplasticizer also used as admixture concrete mix for M20…. 1:2.35:4.47 with w/c ratio of 0.45. Test Results : i) 20% replacement ? ? 27.05N/mm2 / 33.50 N/mm2 (+ 24%) increase in compressive strength. ii) Sulphate attack ------ 25.45N /mm2 / 31.85 N/ mm2 (+25%) increase in strength. iii) Surphate attach reduction -------- 370.40 mg/ lit / 82.31 mg/lit (-77.77%).
