MO'S WORD ON THE STREET
A little birdie tells us that Wayne County Sheriff Bennie Napoleon is in the running for
Lt. Governor with Gubernatorial Candidate Gretchen Whitmer. OGW has not endorsed
a candidate, but one thing is sure, Democrats must have energy to get out the vote to
take back Lansing. In the last election two of three voters didn’t show up. We must
begin thinking about how to inspire voters to line up behind our candidates at the polls.
MDP making big efforts to gain the urban vote is key. Having an African American on
the slate may help in Southeastern, MI. MDP should consider allowing Wayne County
Dems to form a county party, like the other 82 counties in the state have. This would
help grasstops fundraise and organize in the community to turn out the vote. Another
idea is to give grassroots access to the Voters Acquisition Network (VAN). What do
you think needs to happen for Dems to win in 2018?
