TRAVEL ADVISORY: MISSOURI Black drivers in Missouri are 75 percent more likely to be pulled over than whites. In fact, earlier this year, Tory Sanders, a 28-year-old black man from Tennessee took a wrong turn while traveling and ended up dying in a southeast Missouri jail even though he hadn’t been accused of a crime. For these reasons and others, including the recent passage of state laws that create a new set of barriers for those who are pursuing housing or employment discrimination lawsuits, the Missouri NAACP has issued an advisory, warning travelers about the risks of visiting the state. The advisory was the first ever issued by the NAACP. In it, the organization warns people of color, LGBTQ people and obvious religious minorities to use “extreme caution” while traveling or staying in the state. The advisory included a list of incidents as reference. Senate Bill 43, which Missouri Governor Greitens signed into law and which the MO-NAACP calls t
