Graphics

It looks dramatically different from the arcade and Nintendo port but it is still colourful, fast moving, has good hit detection and has plenty to keep your eyes entertained. Every level has great motion and animation. With climbing actions, different weapons, characters, and enemy animations, everything looks and fits perfectly. Even the background details are clear and suit the graphical power of the Mega Drive.

Controls

Responsive, tight and easy to use. What a perfect combination. It is slightly harder to play this game on a control pad rather than a joystick, but it doesn't take long to get to grips with.

Sound

I love how the Mega Drives music matches each of the levels. When your riding the horse on the bonus stage it's like bonanza all over again. They even try to do some of the speech effects from the arcade machine.. Only a couple but they are in there.

I think that for Sega's flagship of the 90s the quality of the sound is great and find myself humming a few of the levels afterwards.

"Contra is good but in my opinion this is better!"
