How to Use this Book What is a Japanese kanji radical? A Japanese kanji radical is like a puzzle piece of different strokes put together to make one character. The kanji characters can have one radical, several radicals, or even no radicals. Radicals are used to classify and organize the thousands of kanji characters in a way that is easy for someone to research their meanings and usage. Often times, characters that have the same radical will have related definitions, so learning groups of kanji with the same radical can give new insight to the Japanese kanji meanings as a whole. 6 簡単漢字
