A Note From the Editor...
A lot of people asked me if I was going to submit any work to Kalliope 2015.
I always found this question amusing. The truth is that the final product that
is in your hands (or on your computer screen) is a story, a poem, and a piece
of art in and of itself. Page 1 was my accepting the position thirteen months
prior, when I had all of the ideas but not a clue on if any of them would
work. The story continues onward with ambition, excitement, uncertainty, panic, and then uncertainty and panic at the same time, but then turns
into one of enthusiasm, optimism, teamwork, and ultimately faith. If I had
hundreds of pages to write this note, I would acknowledge every person who
helped me get through it all, and gave me the ambition, passion, and tenacity
to make this experience the highlight of my college career. What I will say
though is that doing a project like this alone is impossible at best. I will just
sum up all of my feelings in one word: thanks. My only regret is that I will
not get to see the rest of this story unfold. However, I know the future to be
bright, brighter than when I first took up this role an eternity ago. It is bittersweet to leave it behind, but this magazine was never mine to begin with. It is
everyone’s. So that’s my story. If you are not impressed, don’t worry. There are
45 other people who have stories to tell here. I am just holding the door for
them.
Your Faithful Editor,
Rob Gelb
