2014 Note from the editor ... My experience with Kalliope over the last two years has been, to say the least, an interesting one. I became a part of the magazine during a time of major transition, and have had the unique opportunity of reshaping not only the magazine itself, but Kalliope as an organization. Though it was stressful, even harrowing a lot of the time, it was also fun and extremely rewarding, and something I will look back on fondly throughout my life as a huge aspect of my time at Penn State. When I first joined Kalliope, I never, at all, expected to be the editor. But, I’m extraordinarily grateful for whatever luck brought me to the position. As I prepare to leave Penn State, I take with me the experiences being a part of this magazine have gifted me with, and will continue to cherish them wherever life takes me. And, I know I’m leaving the Kalliope in capable hands. Jessica Thorn, Editor Note From Our Treasurer... Having such an important position for my first year in Kalliope has been scary, exhilarating, and educational all of the way through. I can say for certain though that all of the stress has been worth it in more ways than I can say in this short note. Special thanks to Alison and Jess for giving me this unique opportunity over the past nine months. I’d also like to thank everyone who submitted their works of art/fiction/nonfiction/poetry, everyone who put their time in to critically evaluate the submissions, and readers like yourself who make this whole magazine matter. See you next issue! Your faithful treasurer (and future editor), Rob Gelb
