Sustainability at Keele

Over the summer, I undertook the role as a Sustainability Engagement Project Support Officer, developing the People-Planet-Place( PPP) framework, where I worked alongside Muzaina Shah to help curate ideas and support the delivery of engagement projects aimed at connecting students with sustainability in accessible and meaningful ways.
Throughout this opportunity, some key highlights included running the Freshers ' Fair stall, where we created an interactive tree encouraging students to share what sustainability means to them, and organising an open yoga session focused on wellbeing, reflection and community connection.

Students at Keele have a real opportunity to contribute to sustainability at Keele, and the university offers an environment that makes that involvement both accessible and impactful. Prior to this, I had also served as treasurer for Keele Malayali Society, which gave me a broader perspective on community engagement and how to bring people together effectively, something that translated well into my work during the internship.
This has been a genuinely rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the support and guidance of Laura and Muz throughout. Keele provides many opportunities for students to engage meaningfully beyond their studies, and this internship is one example of the many ways students can develop skills, contribute to their community, and make a tangible impact for the community and themselves during their time here.
