And here I was, standing before her in one of her other exhibit of deeply thought photographs serenading a poem titled “Song of Childhood” by Peter Handke housed at Lollygagger Gallery.

I hadn’t seen these photos and was already starting to zoom into some of the artwork but had to reclaim myself for the main job I was there.

We had exchanged light hello’s over messages and this was our official first time apparently, sharing the screen. Quickly I donned my interviewer hat and started to get to know her and to my surprise she was rather calm, and very kind, which helped me a lot.

We walked around her exhibits; each photo was a rendition of a phrase in the poem that she had meticulously tried to bring into life. All the photos were black and white and had the familiar fade of off-center focus that I felt was certainly becoming her signature. When I indicated how I saw these photos she just smiled and I had to ask – “I am intrigued by how you take photograph, from some nostalgic ones like here to nudes that I saw at Dathuil a while ago - how do you approach taking a photograph? Like from nudes to what you have here, do you follow a theme or is there something else that you would like to share that drives you?”

She smiled again and replied pointing to her work around us “ Well, in this case I had the poem by Peter Handke and each pic corresponds to a segment of the poem…” As she stood before one of the exhibit and continued “ this one, ‘why I am me and not you’, I thought of ways to represent it and this is what I came up with. My nudes, I usually listen to songs and try out various poses and it just clicks”. I asked again, “How do you describe your photography style? Do you tend to like a particular method or try different styles based on your mood or the idea in your mind?”
