of upgrading the status of the local agent in the eyes of the public to a level similar to that of doctors , attorneys , and other professional men .
• Donald R . Wasson – Don was president of the association in 1987 . Don is president of Dorth-Coombs Insurance Inc . in Wichita . He is a graduated from Wichita State University in 1956 . He then served two years as a lieutenant in the Army . He began his insurance career in 1959 as a claim representative for Federated Mutual Insurance . He joined Dulaney , Johnston & Priest in 1965 as a producer . In 1970 , he joined Dorth-Coombs Insurance and established its property / casualty department . The Wichita State Band performed at his inauguration as president in October 1986 at the annual convention in Wichita that year .
• Kristy Wilson – Kristy was president of the association in 2020 . She has earned her CISR and CIC designation . She joined Kellerman Insurance in Holton in 1992 . Her focus was on commercial insurance . She served on several committees over the years . She was the chair of the Young Agents Committee and also the chairman of the ASCK board . Kristy was also part of the IVANS Agents Advisory Council . She was recently appointed by Kansas Governor Kelly to serve as a member of the Information Network of Kansas board .
• Robert ( Bob ) C . Wood – Bob was president of the association in 2014 . Bob was the agency president of Wood-Dulohery Insurance in Parsons with a branch office in Pittsburg . Bob received the Kansas Agent of Merit Award in 2001 . Bob had been on the Board of Governors since 2003 . Bob began his career in 1982 as a commercial account representative . His mother , Beverly Wood , and her partner gave him the opportunity to work for them . In 1991 , Bob became president of the agency . He was named “ Businessperson of the Year ” in 2001 by the Parsons Chamber of Commerce . He was involved in the economic efforts in Southeast Kansas where he served on the Board of JOBS , Inc . He was also chairman of the Greater Plains Development Authority .
• Webb Woodward – Webb was president of the association in 1947 . He served as state national director in 1950 . Webb was from Topeka ’ s Webb Woodward & Company . He started in the insurance business in 1932 . In 1934 , he started his own agency . In 1942 he joined the Army Air Force where he served for four years , going in as a private and coming out as a captain . During his war service the Hussey Agency in Topeka operated his business .
• Paul C . Yankey , Jr . - Paul was president of the association in 1957 . He was from Wichita ’ s , Paul C . Yankey Company . He also served as state national director in 1958 and again for two terms in 1962 and 1963 . From 1942 to 1945 Paul served as a lieutenant in the United State Navy . In 1945 , he joined his father ’ s agency . That agency merged with the Joe Moddrell Agency , then formed the founding agencies of Insurance Management Associates in 1973 , where he served as chairman of the board and treasurer until his death on June 14 , 1986 , at the age of 67 .
• J . M . ( Max ) Zimmerman – Max was president of the association in 1983 . His insurance agency in Liberal was started by his family in 1914 , Zimmerman & Company . In 1989 , Zimmerman Insurance held an open house celebrating its 75 years of business . Max ’ s father , Don , went to work for the agency in the 1950s . Max graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in business from the University of Kansas . After college he joined the Air Force and was a navigator with SAC . In 1957 , he joined his family firm and began his insurance career . In 1973 , he received the IIAK Award of Merit . Max was a past president of the Liberal Association of Insurance Agents . He obtained his CPCU designation in 1974 and his CIC in 1982 . He was secretary of the Seward County Historical Society . He received the Agent of the Year award in 1988 . Max died in 2016 at the age of 83 .
