State University and started his insurance career in 1970 . He stated on the President ’ s Page : “ I am truly excited about our consolidation and our potential for the future . We are a stronger , more efficient , and better organization .” Keith was also the first chairman of the Young Agents Committee .
• M . Dee Mann – Dee was president of the association in 1980 . Dee was from Topeka and was vicepresident of the J . C . Sargent Insurance Agency . Dee was chairman of the selection committee that hired Larry Magill as executive director in 1980 . During the Korean conflict , he served in both the Merchant Marines and the U . S . Army . Dee died on September 12 , 1996 . He was 69 years old .
• Raymond L . Mann – Raymond was president of the association in 1972 ; he was from Wichita . Ray was president of the Wichita Board in 1966 . Ray was a Senior Partner of the firm Dulaney , Johnston & Priest and had been with the firm for 41 years . The Aetna Casualty Company employed Raymond in the early 1930s . He attended Wichita State University and Columbus University of Washington , DC . Ray was on the committee of the Kansas Fair Plan . In 1969 he received the KAIIA Outstanding Agent Award . Raymond died on September 17 , 1983 .
• Dean Matthews – Dean was president of the association in 1956 . He also served as state national director in 1957 . He was chairman of the Farm Sub-Committee of the Midwest Territorial Conference . In 1962 he was appointed chairman of the Rural Agents Committee of the national association . Dean was awarded in 1963 by NAIIA the President ’ s Citation for Achievement . In 1961 Dean was the first agent to be given the “ Outstanding Agent of the Year ” award by KAIA . He started in the insurance business in 1931 , selling life insurance . In 1939 he entered the general insurance business , and in 1954 in bought his agency in Ashland , Bearyman Insurance Agency .
• James W . ( Bill ) McBride , Jr . – Bill was president of the association in 1992 . He is from Topeka and was the president of Meade Insurance . He started working for Meade Insurance in 1964 while finishing college . Bill earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Kansas . At the same time , he was taking insurance courses at Washburn University . Bill was president during the consolidation of IIAK and PIAK . He was very instrumental in the establishment of the consolidated associations . On his last President ’ s Page , he stated : “ Literally hundreds of volunteers make it possible for the association to accomplish what it has this past year . This is what makes things happen in Kansas !”
• Holmes Meade – Holmes was president of the association in 1933 . He was one of the Founders of the Topeka Insurors formed in the early 1920s . Holmes was president of the Meade Company , Inc ., which was founded in 1921 . He served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 1929-1931 . He served on the Executive Committee in 1925 and 1927 . In 1962 , the Topeka Insuror , after 39 years since their founding , honored Holmes for “ his years of meritorious service both as a pillar of strength and as a respected citizen and leader in Topeka ’ s community life .” Holmes died on June 2 , 1964 .
• Albert Mebus – Albert was on the first Executive Committee of the association formed in January 1920 . He served as vice president in 1922 .
• Clarence F . Merrill – Clarence served as treasurer for fifteen years , from 1974-1989 . Clarence was from Kansas City and was president of Lind-Merrill , Inc ., which was established in 1887 . He graduated from Missouri Military Academy and attended Baker University , Rockhurst College , and the University of Missouri in Kansas City , Missouri .
• Daniel R . Messelt – Dan was president of the association in 1989 . He joined Charlson-Wilson Insurance in Manhattan in 1975 and was a principal of the agency . Dan served on the KAIA board twice , beginning in 1982 and concluding the year after he was president in 1989 . Again , starting in 1995 , he served as
