• William L . Kline – Bill was president of the association in 1953 . He was also state national director for two terms in 1955 and 1956 . He again served as state national director in 1964 . He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1936 with a bachelor ’ s in science in Business Administration . He first started in the insurance business in 1939 with Travelers Insurance Company . In 1943 he entered the armed forces where he served in the Eastern Theater of Operations with the 4th Armored Division . He returned to Hutchinson in 1946 and began his career with the Kline Insurance Agency , of which he was president . The agency was founded in 1896 by the late Will S . Thompson . In 1929 , N . N . Kline , Sr . joined the firm . It was later purchased by N . N . and he changed the name to Kline Insurance Agency . Bill was a member of the VFW , Elks , American Legion , and Prairie Dunes Country Club . He also served on the Hutchinson Board of Education , Hutchinson Junior College Endowment Association , Grace Hospital , and the Kiwanis Club .
• Will Larson – Will was an attorney and has practiced errors and omissions defense work in Kansas for 36 years . Throughout his career , he has represented insurance companies and agents throughout the state . Larson was a consultant for KAIA on legal and policy issues . He is also a lobbyist and education speaker for the association . In 2019 Will received the Advocate of the Year Award .
• Mark Lowry – Mark was president of the association in 2011 . Mark is a second-generation agency owner from Stockton . His agency is the Heritage Insurance Group .. His support of the KAIA was noteworthy during the difficult times of the aftermath of Larry Magill ’ s death . Mark was the president during the building renovation to include an education center . Mark received the KAI / 1752 Club Agent of Merit Award in 2011 . In 2017 he received the Agent of the Year Award .
• Joseph C . Lukens , II – Joseph ( Buz ) was president of the association in 1990 . Lukens was president of IMA Insurance in Wichita . He was very instrumental in the planning and finally the building of the association ’ s new building . He stated on his President Page : “ In an association , a project of this magnitude involves a lot of people over a long time .” Buz was one of the speakers at the dedication of the new IIAK building on December 8 , 1989 ; he stated , “ The dedication of IIAK ’ s new building symbolizes the association ’ s strength and dedication of serving our members ’ needs well into the next century . Suppose independent insurance agents continue to be the top providers of professional services for individuals and businesses . In that case , they need a dynamic association behind them .”
• Larry W Magill , Jr . – Larry was executive vice president of the association for 15 years , from July 7 , 1980 , to Sept 1995 . During this time , he initiated the for-profit subsidiary of KAIA , the Agency Assistance Corp of Kansas in 1982 . Larry was elected president of the IAAE and KSAE in 1988 . In 1989 , he was instrumental in launching the first Rural & Small Agents Conference in January at Salina . The conference met with excellent responses and was deemed a huge success . Agents that attended said it was one of the first programs they had been to that specifically addressed their needs . Larry stated : “ There ’ s nothing like hitting a home run your first-time at-bat .” He helped with the merger of PIA and KAIA in 1992 and was instrumental in forming the Kansas Chamber of Commerce Work Comp Pool in 1994 . At the October 1995 KAIA convention , Larry was awarded the KAIA Distinguished Service Award . He was recognized for his remarkable talents and efforts on behalf of the association , its members , and the industry . He left a legacy as a dedicated , hard-working individual who was truly devoted to his belief in the independent agency system . Larry left the KAIA in 1995 to be vice president of member products and markets with the Independent Insurance Agents of America in Alexandria , VA . He later joined the AMS Users Group as chief operating officer before being promoted to chief executive officer . He returned to Kansas in June of 2000 as the executive vice president of the association . Larry died in January 2010 .
• R . Keith Maloney – Keith was co-president in 1993 ; it was the first year after the consolidation with PIA . Keith was from Parsons and a partner in Maloney , Hardman & Associates , Inc . He graduated from Pittsburg
