Commissioner Bell attended the 1988 historical ground breaking ceremony of the new KAIA building . Fletcher was a republican from Lawrence .
• Charles G . Blakely , Jr . – C . G . was a Founding Father of the Association . He was the first secretary / treasurer of the association from 1921 to 1926 . He then served two terms as president of the association in 1927 and 1928 . C . G . served as member of the 130th Field Artillery in World War I . He was discharged in 1919 . He returned to Kansas and joined his father ’ s insurance agency , C . G . Blakely & Company , which was established in the 1890s and were a member of the national association . His father was involved in the organizing of the Kansas Insurance Federation in the early 1900s . C . G . attended the NAIA Convention in Des Moines in 1920 . He asked Karl Reike to come to Kansas to help get the state association organized . C . G . was one of the charter members of the Topeka Insurors , formed in the early 1920s . He was also the first president of the Topeka Insurors . C . G . was presented with an honorary life membership in the association in 1939 . In 1962 , the Topeka Insurors , after 39 years since their founding , honored C . G . for his “ years of meritorious service both as a pillar of strength and as a respected citizen and leader in Topeka ’ s community life . He was published in the articles from Past President ’ s column in May 1951 . And , also a letter from C . G . was published in the October 1965 “ The Premium ” magazine . Charles G . Blakely , Jr died Oct 8 , 1969 .
