• Sandy Praeger – Sandy was elected Insurance Commissioner in 2002 . She was re-elected in 2006 and 2010 . Before being elected Commissioner , Sandy served three terms in the Kansas Senate and one term in the Kansas House . She earned national recognition for her industry leadership , serving as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners ( NAIC ), chair of the NAIC Health Insurance and Managed Care Committee , and as an NAIC representative on the Board of Directors of the National Insurance Producer Registry . She had a 26-year old record of service to Kansas consumers and the insurance industry . Sandy retired in January 2015 .
• John Prechtel - John was president of the association in 1963 . John was from Wichita .
• Frank T . Priest – Frank was one of the original Four Horsemen . He was from Wichita . The national association recognized Frank and the others for promoting the state and national associations . Frank entered the insurance business in 1912 . Four years later , the name of the company was changed to Dulaney , Johnson & Priest . He was on the Executive Committee in 1927 and 1928 . Frank was vicepresident of the association in 1937 and 1939 . He was elected to the national association Executive Committee in 1928 . In 1933 he was elected Chairman of the national associations ’ Finance Committee . In 1949 Frank wrote a series of articles for the newsletter . The Agent at Work was the name of his series . The first one was titled “ Serving Two Masters – The Customer and the Company .” These were signed the “ The Voice of Experience .” These articles remained anonymous until the end of the series , when it was revealed that he was the writer . Frank was made an Honorary Life Member of the association in 1952 . The association selected Frank as “ Insurance Man of the Year ” in 1958 . He was very active in his community , serving on the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club president in 1921 . He was also a strong supporter of the Wichita Children ’ s home . In 1965 Frank wrote an article for the magazine titled “ Frank Priest Discusses Tough Times .” It is in our history files . In 1966 Frank was saluted by the Mid-American Insurance magazine . His picture was on the front of the magazine and a very nice article on him in the magazine . In 1970 , Frank was given the honor of proposing a toast at the 50th Golden Anniversary Convention .
• Cheney Prouty – Cheney was president of the association in 1951 . Cheney was from Kansas City . In 1949 , while he was a member of the Executive Committee , he was asked by Governor Frank Carlson to chair the morning session of the statewide Traffic Safety Conference . Cheney was chairman of the national association ’ s Accident Prevention Committee in 1953 . In 1993 , the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce awarded the All-American Chamber Volunteer of the Century for 58 years of dedicated Chamber service to the Kansas City , Kansas area .
• Ray Rathert – Ray worked for the Kansas Insurance Department from 1957-1994 . He was a valuable source of information for the association and also a great supporter of the association . He retired in 1994 . He wrote an article in the March / April issue of the Kansas Insurance Magazine reflecting on the Past presidents of the association and his career at the Insurance Department . Insurance Commissioner Ron Todd stated of Ray that he was a great friend and a great Kansan . He took his responsibility as a public servant to a new level for the public , the Kansas insurance agents , and the company representatives in his desire to make a difference in the insurance industry .
• Karl Reike – Karl met C . G . Blakely , Jr . at the 1920 national convention , and he was invited to Kansas . He helped organize the Topeka Board of Fire & Casualty Underwriters and the Wichita Board . The national association sent him to make calls in Kansas for signing up agents as members . Most of the original members of the association were solicited by Karl . He traveled all over the state after the Topeka and Wichita meetings . Karl worked on a commission basis with the national association .
