Wichita . It was later named the Beezler , Mason , Maxfield & Foote Agency . In 1936 he gave the welcoming address at the 16th Annual Convention . In his remarks , he stressed that the spirit of friendship and fellowship found in the ranks of our trade association was remarkable . He died on August 9 , 1963 . He was 80 years old .
• Howard N . Fullington – Howard was president of the association in 1952 . He was with the Dulaney , Johnston & Priest Agency in Wichita . He was elected to the NAIA Property Committee in 1952 . Howard also served on the national Executive Committee from 1958-1960 . He received an Honorary Life Membership in 1952 . In 1955 he was the chairman of the Midwest Territorial Conference in Wichita in April .
• James D . Gilmore – James was president of the association in 1936 . He was 27 years old when he elected president . Jim was from Independence where his family had been in the insurance business for over 50 years . Their agency was the Gilmore Agency . In 1937 he served as our national Councilor . James was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U . S . Navy in 1944 .
• Lee Gleason – Lee was president of the association in 2019 . Lee graduated from Hutchinson Community College . He became an independent insurance agent in 1997 and joined KFSA in 2002 . He received his AFIS designation in 2007 .
• Fred A . Gould – Fred was a Founding Fathers of the Kansas Association . Fred served on the first Executive Committee and was elected president in 1922 . Fred was from Arkansas City , Gould Insurance Agency . He contributed to a magazine article in October 1951 named “ How the KAIA Got its Start ”. At that time , he was the oldest living Past president of the association and faithfully attended every convention .
• Donald D . Graves – Don was co-president of the association in 1993 , this was the first year after the consolidation with PIA . Don was with Kansas Farmer Service in Hutchinson . On his President ’ s Page he stated : “ Our own state association is the best investment of your dues dollar . We have approximately 190 volunteers ( officers , directors , committee members ) who work on specific Kansas insurance interests such as legislation and education . Our best investment is an outstanding and truly professional eleven-person staff that delivers the real goods to our members . The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Kansas is where it ’ s at !”
• William ( Bill ) Graves – Bill was Governor from 1998 to 2003 . He was the Keynote speaker at the 1998 Legislative Day . He discussed the legislature and the current issues of the state government that session .
• Timothy L . Gross – Tim was president of the association in 1999 . He was from Larned and was co-owner of Crawford-McDonald Agency . Tim was a graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree . He began his insurance career in 1977 with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas , Inc . He began working at Crawford-McDonald in September 1984 . Tim ’ s words of wisdom came from a Johnny Mercer song from 1944 : “ Accentuate the Positive ”. He also advocated using the association for a successful tomorrow . He stated that : “ the association has been strong in the past and intends to carry you far into the 21st century as an even stronger advocate for its members .” He believed one of the greatest benefits of belonging to the association was being able to display the “ Big I ” logo .
• Charles ( Chuck ) W . Hanna – Chuck was president of the association in 1971 . Chuck is with the Anderson Insurance Agency in Emporia . He attended Emporia state and transferred to the University of Kansas where he graduated from the School of Business in 1950 . He was an officer in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery in San Francisco during the Korean War . He started is insurance career in 1953 with the Fidelity and Deposit Company in Kansas City . He moved back to Emporia in 1958 and went to work at the Anderson Insurance Agency . Charles received his CPCU designation in 1959 . He served as VP of the Kansas Chapter of CPCU
