RANDAL HUISKENS - featured artwork "David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust) #1" "The first David Bowie song I ever heard was 'Golden Years.' It was the mid-seventies, I was only 10 years old, and that song was a hit on the radio at the time. I had no idea who the artist was, I just knew that every once in a while this song would come on the radio, a song that sounded like no other song I had ever heard. I would always stop what I was doing and wait for that great vocal run near the end. It wasn't long after that I heard 'Space Oddity' for the first time and saw David Bowie perform it on a TV special. But it was years later before I realized that the two songs were done by the same person. About 5 or 6 years later, a friend loaned me the Diamond Dogs album, and I became totally hooked on Bowie. I played the hell out of that record. Then I discovered The Man Who Sold The World, and that became a permanent fixture in my playlist. As I grew older, I started branching out into other musical styles, and David Bowie was there all the way. Of course, that's one of the great things about David Bowie. His music ran the gamut of styles and influences. I maintain my collection of Bowie music and play it often... there is a record for almost any mood that I may have." www.huiskensart.com www.randalhuiskens.com www.facebook.com/HuiskensArt @HuiskensArt (twitter)
