I thought they were two musical cities with great
opportunities, and at the time of decision making, New
York made more sense to me.
K: What´s your best memory about Korea?
HY: I cherish the time I spend with my family and old
friends in Korea. hey‘re the best.
K: Do you see yourself as a Korean artist or a New
York artist? Would there be a diference?
HY: I think I am both. Especially in the age of the
internet, I think it‘s hard to deine which geographical
region I belong to. Also I‘ve been going to Korea every
year for the past 3 years to perform and promote my
music there, so I don‘t think I can call myself just one
regional artist.
and the old Bookchon neighborhood. here‘re so many
great restaurants in Korea that I won‘t dare name them all.
In Brooklyn, I love going to BAM (Brooklyn Academy
of Music) for movies and Grumpy‘s for cofee, not to
forget awesome thrit/vintage shops all over Brooklyn.
And Prospect Park is the best from spring to fall with
concerts in the summer.
K: Please inish those sentences:
HY: Music is... what‘s in your heart, transcribed into
musical melodies.
Life is... a learning journey that takes you closer and
closer each day to fullness.
If I‘d be born again... I‘d know how to answer this
question beter.
K: Name your favorite places in Korea and in New
York.
HY: My favorite place is always home whether in Korea
or in New York. To me ‚home‘ means where people that
I love live. But to really answer the question; in Korea, I
love a couple of cofee shops near my label Pastel Music,
called 3Go and 3 Sam Partners. I love ‚Kyobo bookstore‘
