Activity 2: Online Certificate (ICT in Education)
This topic “Integrating ICT in the classroom” was very interesting as it is my favorite part of
teaching, using technology to get the students to understand and learn better and faster. Students
have different learning abilities that teachers should be able to touch on each to get the classroom
environment into a successful classroom. My mind was open as I want to learn different ways I
can use to bring technology to my classes. It was challenging at first as I first had to understand
what technology is before really doing any practical activities. I wasn’t pleased at first cause my
first thought of the class what doing a lot of activities or more practical than theory.
I learned the five pillars of education by UNESCO, they are
1. Learning to know; this implies learning how to learn by developing one’s concentration.
Eg. Memory.
2. Learning to do; this is closely related with the issue of occupational training.
3. Learning to live together; one of education’s tasks is both to teach pupils and students
about humans’ diversity and to instill in them an awareness of their environment.
4. Learning to be; this I interpret to be who you are accepting who you are.
5. Learning to transform one self and society; what one learn, they should able to transfer it
to develop them as well as the society they live in.
Technology is understood to be the application of computers and telecommunications equipment
to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data (Hanif, I. (2015). Using technology in classroom
teachers need to become aware of technology and its potential uses.
This lesson help me a lot to be more rounded as a teacher and should be able to use technology to
get my concepts learned by the students easier. Mr. Morton gave us a sight created by UNESCO
