JT: Is there more to this business than fair trade? JT: ¿Hay algo más en este negocio que comercio justo?
VS: We believe that customers are ready to buy nice clothes, which
also solves the problems of the world, instead of creating more…
So I’d say that yes, our project goes far beyond just fair trade.
Let me remark that both fashion and the textile industry are,
generally, very polluting industries, second only to the oil
industry. So, it’s very hard for the end–consumer to grasp the
environmental and social footprint of their purchases and we
certainly do not think that the future must be characterized by
bad conscience and morality. Instead, we are developing great
alternatives with sumptuous designs that overflow quality both in
expression and in their journey through the world. It is the future
that we believe in and work towards, without compromising none
of these elements of the equation: design, quality, planet and people. VS: Creemos que los clientes están dispuestos a comprar ropa
agradable, que también resuelvan los problemas del mundo en
lugar de crear más... Así que yo diría que sí, nuestro proyecto va
mucho más allá del comercio justo. Permítanme señalar que tanto
la moda como la industria textil son, en general, industrias muy
contaminantes, superadas sólo por la industria petrolera. Por lo
tanto, es muy difícil para el consumidor final comprender el impacto
ambiental y social de sus compras y ciertamente no creo que el
futuro debe caracterizarse por la mala conciencia y moralidad. En
cambio, estamos desarrollando grandes alternativas con diseños
suntuosos que desbordan calidad tanto en la expresión como en su
viaje por el mundo. Es el futuro en el que creemos y trabajamos, sin
comprometer ninguno de estos elementos de la ecuación: diseño,
calidad, planeta y personas.
