R E R E U A R E a CONQ G N O L O N m a I d n a , Hendry I deserv e nothin g less than to be loved . I learned how to validate myself. I learned that I have my own voice. And I learned that my feelings are valid. GIVING BACK WHILE MOVING FORWARD I am so proud to be connected to a loving family that offers more than just statistics. I’m honored to be a CHAIN BREAKER. I’m proud to be a CONQUERER. I succeeded and beat the odds. BEATING THE ODDS I graduated in 2007 and continued my education at Houston Community College to study juvenile criminal justice. I never thought I’d graduate because people always told me I would fail—just like my father. Instead, I overcame. My ultimate goal in life is to prove to the world that my father’s mistakes DO NOT determine my future. I love helping children who are just like me: those who are hurting and dealing with the same situations I dealt with in life. My name is La’Voshea Hendry, and I am NO LONGER A VICTIM. ©2015 The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
