What is Seasonal Affective
Disorder (SAD)? A type of major
depression that occurs during a
specific season (often fall and winter)
Symptoms Include:
-Sadness or irritability
-Lack of enjoyment
-Sleeping more
-Overeating
-Low energy
-Difficulty concentrating

Relieve symptoms by:
-Exercising
-Getting more sunlight
-Adding more vitamin
D to your diet (tuna,
salmon, milk, egg yolks,
some cereals)
If your mood doesn’t
improve (or it gets
worse), talk to a healthcare
professional. Some health
clinics offer free counseling and
organizations, like Communities in
Schools (CIS), provide resources too.
