Powerful Reasons why to care about the OCEAN

The ocean is such a majestic, powerful source of energy, of life, of magic and wonder. For its beauty, its creatures, its force, its healing power … we all love and adore the ocean for one reason or another.
Can you imagine a world without it?
1. Oceans are the supporter of life
The oceans are responsible for temperature regulation of the planet, they generate half the oxygen we breathe, absorb carbon dioxide( and coincidently, reduce the effects of climate change), influences the weather systems, and basically supports every single living organism in the world. And if your still not convinced, consider that the ocean provides our basic transit systems for travel, for food and supply transport, and provides us with food in general. We can’ t live without the ocean!!
2. Being the largest ecosystem on earth, Oceans hold incredible biodiversity
Covering over 90 % of earths surface, scientists believe that 50-80 % of all life forms live underwater. Remarkably, only 5 % of the ocean has been explored meaning there is potentially thousands, if not millions, of species that we haven’ t yet discovered.
4. The Ocean Houses history, and the most unique species on earth
Some of the oldest known species of life on earth still exist in their ancestor form in our oceans. Amazing marine life like sharks, and sea turtles, whales and alligators. Some of them have been around for over 400 million years. History literally lurks in the depths of the ocean, and we have hardly explored this vast body of water to discover its full potential. However, as destruction of our world continues, invasive species are moved around and acidification takes over health of the water, more marine life face endangerment and extinction.
3. Death of Coral Reefs will alter Travel Destination spots
It is well understood that many countries economies wholeheartedly depend on tourism, but with rapid changes in ocean health, we face more and more coral reef destruction and consequently, tourist attraction hiccups. Believe it or not, over 1 / 4 of the worlds coral reefs have already died due to pollution, climate change, over harvesting, acidification and so on. Future generations will only be able to learn about amazing things like snorkelling and scuba diving rather than experiencing it for themselves.
