Jane lives in Edmonton, Alberta and enjoys the outdoors. She started taking photography more seriously when she got her first point and shoot camera in 2008. She bought her first DSLR in 2011 and took courses at Metro Continuing Education to learn how to use it. She continues to take courses, joined Images Alberta Camera Club and has been passionately shooting photos ever since. She loves nature, birding and festivals and takes her camera with her wherever she goes.
When outdoors she looks for shapes, lines, light, angles, or combination. When shooting birds, she likes to get close and have a clear, unobstructed view with good light. Other times it is a plant or berry, standing out from the rest of its surroundings struck by the sunlight. It may be close or distant but it has caught her eye and wants to capture that moment which got her attention. And she always tries to remember to look behind her especially during sunrise or sunset. It gives her great joy to go outdoors and shoot photos. This is why she calls her blog "My Heartsong."
