As far as I can remember, I took my first street photographs in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1988 during a school trip there. I was 16 at the time. Since then, I’ve been taking street shots almost every year, mostly during my travels in Europe and USA. Recently I’ve decided to devote myself to street photography on a full time basis.

What do I look out for when capturing images? Street photography is for me an extension of my natural perception of reality. It’s an exploration of life and human nature. In general, I like to take candid photographs of people in order to try and capture their truest side. To achieve that result, it is necessary to stay “invisible”, to use small cameras and to hide in plain sight when taking the shots. In quantum theory, observation affects reality. Through my photography I try to reach just the opposite outcome: observation that doesn’t alter the natural state of the life that is observed.
