There is no denying this fact - goats are highly sought after commodities which produce milk, meat, and fibers for us. This is the main reason goats are not commonly found as house pets, in comparison to cats or dogs. If the animal produces commodities stricter standards are set. In comparison, a cat or a dog mainly produces offspring (yay), and therefore has few restrictions.

If one can meet the required stands to own a pet goat, then they have all rights to do so. It is not merely the question of whether or not you can meet a goat's needs, but also if

the goat is able to meet yours. People own animals because they provide companionship, enjoyment, and a sense of security; how does a goat do any of these? This is commonly considered when someone is looking toward owning a pet goat. It may not seem conventional, but goats assuredly meet the requirements that any pet should meet.

Goats are extremely humble; do not expect one to pounce on you unexpectedly (goats do however hold long lasting impressions of a person if they do it harm, so be cautious). They are not

known to sit on laps, but

they make for great company, especially when you own more than one (this is recommended since the goat is a herd animal). Shave your goat, and make a hat; milk your goat, and prepare a delicious goat cheese platter; use your goat as an au naturale lawnmower, saving you hours of work.

A goat can open a door of endless possibilities. Let it run free, be itself, and enjoy your company, as you enjoy theirs. Your goat could be your greatest tool - a living, breathing Swiss Army Knife.

A Swiss Army Goat.
