Fit & Fabulous Forever , often shortened to F3 , is a fun , energetic presentation that impresses upon elementary students the importance of staying active and hydrated . Mississippi has one of the highest obesity rates in the nation and Junior Auxiliary of Columbus has designed a project that targets this serious health risk facing today ’ s youth . F3 utilizes a format that is both educational and entertaining . Rotating through four stations , students learn simple yet effective ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle .
• Dance Station - Junior Auxiliary of Columbus members teach the children a fun dance to encourage an enjoyable way to increase your heart rate .
• Hydration Station - Students learn about the benefits of staying adequately hydrated and then play a fun game that encourages drinking plenty of water during physical activity .
• Don ’ t Weigh Me Down Station - Students run relay races while wearing weighted backpacks . This serves as a weighty reminder of how carrying an additional 20 pounds can affect even the simplest of tasks .
• Jump -n- Bump & Swirl -n- Curl Station - Students engage in healthy competition using jump ropes and hula hoops .
At the completion of the presentation , students receive a jump rope to take home as a reminder to remain active which is a proven challenge in today ’ s technology driven culture . This project remains popular through the years and is presented on a rotational basis for all city and county schools . This year , F3 has served over 400 children encouraging them to live a healthier and more active lifestyle .
