Choose Kindness

Choose Kindness is an anti-bullying program presented in a small group format that serves approximately 400 elementary students each year . The children rotate between two stations : the “ Wrinkled Heart ” Station and the “ Web of Kindness ” Station . These two stations provide the children with examples of the impact bullying can have on a person and teach ways to build each other up rather than tear people down .
At the conclusion of the program , the children form a paper kindness chain with details of acts of kindness they have given or received . Each child also receives a motivational wristband as a reminder of the project ’ s theme and the importance of choosing kindness . This project equips children with a variety of tools to stand up to bullying and encourages them to seek help for victims of bullying . It is our hope that , through this project , children will gain the confidence to recognize that no child should ever endure a bullying situation .
Students write various acts of kindness on small strips of paper to create a chain of kindness to display in their classrooms to serve as a visual reminder of the many ways one can simply choose to be kind .
