J . A . M . gives Junior Auxiliary of Columbus members the opportunity to interact one-on-one and develop special relationships with students who may need extra attention or support . Incorporated in 1996 , this beloved project is a long-standing welfare project of Junior Auxiliary of Columbus .

Junior Auxiliary Mentors

Junior Auxiliary Mentors ( J . A . M .) is a mentoring program developed by Junior Auxiliary of Columbus in 1996 to address the needs of children that are functioning below their current grade level . Through J . A . M ., committee members meet one-on-one and establish ongoing relationships with students while focusing on enhancing self-confidence , improving academic and social skills , and providing a nurturing environment to promote the child ’ s ability and desire to succeed . “ Not only is it beneficial for the students , it is such a rewarding experience for committee members to get to see the firsthand growth of the student throughout the year .” - Chelsea Boulware , 2024-2025 J . All Junior Auxiliary of Columbus members are required to JAM for at least one year during their active membership . However , recognizing the benefit of this project , many members continue their participation long after their active years in Junior Auxiliary are complete . This year , 15 committee members offer mentorship and encouraging support to 22 students across six elementary schools in the area .
