Feed to Succeed

Feed To Succeed is a backpack meal program for local elementary and middle school students who depend on the school system for nourishment . Created by the provisional class of 2019-2020 , their mission was to go back to the core roots of the Junior Auxiliary organization and provide for the basic human needs of children within our communities .
School counselors refer children to the program , where committee members organize and deliver food to the schools on a monthly basis . Purchased through the Mississippi Food Network , the meals are sent home with identified students each Friday . In addition to providing food packs , committee members also deliver ingredients to prepare a Thanksgiving meal to each family and gift Christmas stocking to each student in
December .
This year , Feed To Succeed serves 90 children at West Lowndes Elementary , Sale Elementary , Columbus Middle , and Caledonia Elementary and Middle Schools . Thanks to a generous contribution from Atmos Energy , as well as donations and advertisements in our Report to Community publication , we are able to continue meeting the growing needs in our schools .
