Choose Kindness is an anti-bullying program , presented in a small group format , that serves approximately 400 elementary students each year . This project gives children the opportunity to rotate through different stations that address the difference between bullying and conflict , the role of the bystander , cyber bullying , and strategies to combat bullying . To conclude the presentation , children gather to form a kindness |
chain , which details acts of kindness they have given or received . Each child also receives a motivational wristband as a tangible reminder of the project ’ s theme and the importance of choosing kindness , whether it be online , at school , or at home . “ It is such a joy to watch the children as we empower them with tools to help them and their peers when they experience bullying situations . I also love hearing the students as they proudly tell |
us how they have helped a friend or family member by choosing to be kind .” - Haley Graham , 2023-2024 Committee Chair .
This project equips children with a variety of tools to stand up to bullying and encourages
|
them to seek help for victims of bullying . It is our hope that , through this project , children will gain the knowledge and confidence to navigate bullying situations by simply choosing kindness . |
