Shea Concrete Products was founded in 1949 by Ernest( Ernie) Shea in Wilmington, Massachusetts, beginning as a small family-operated concrete block business. Over the decades, the company expanded from manufacturing septic tanks into a broad range of precast concrete products for residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal / state markets. Through strategic acquisitions, facility expansions, and continued family leadership, Shea Concrete has grown into one of New England’ s largest precast concrete manufacturers, with three production locations across Massachusetts and one in New Hampshire while maintaining its reputation for quality, customer service, and family-owned values. Now into its 78 th year of operation Shea Concrete Products is a 4 th generation family-owned and operated business focused on delivering industry leading product quality and service throughout New England and beyond.
Shea Concrete Products acquired its Nottingham, New Hampshire facility in 1999 as part of its purchase of New England Precast, which included both the Nottingham, NH and Amesbury, MA operations and their team members. The 23-acre Nottingham site has grown to over 80-acres and has become an important part of Shea’ s expansion into the New Hampshire and northern New England markets. During the economic downturn of 2008, production at the facility was temporarily suspended and the site was used primarily for storage and staging of precast products. In late 2014 and early 2015, Shea reopened the plant and resumed manufacturing operations, expanding its production of utility, stormwater, septic, transportation, and municipal precast products. Since reopening, the Nottingham facility, it has remained an active production plant with ongoing investments in new product lines and facility expansion, including the opening of a new 22,500-square foot( SF) production building.
The Nottingham facility came with no concrete producing equipment and was in need of repair. In 2006 a new 2- cubic yard( CY) output Besser concrete mixing & batching system was installed that is still in operation today. The current facility produces up to 50-CY’ s per day on average. The new 22,500-SF production building is equipped with a 3-CY output fully-automated Wiggert USA( Greenland, NH based) concrete mixing & batching system that will allow Shea Concrete to expand its daily precast product manufacturing output and become the company’ s 2 nd largest manufacturing location to its headquarters facility in Amesbury, MA. This investment will deliver a great opportunity to expand the products and services Shea Concrete delivers to the Granite State!
On 6 / 12 / 2026 Shea Concrete Products hosted an“ Open House” event at its Nottingham, NH facility which included a ribbon cutting event to introduce the new production building. Governor Kelly Ayotte participated in the ribbon cutting and took part in a plant tour with the Shea family helping to make it a memorable experience. The event was supported and attended by hundreds of industry partners, customers, friends, and family who traveled from near and far. The Shea Concrete Products team is very appreciative of the support and excited for the opportunities to expand its ability to serve New Hampshire and the Northern New England construction markets as the second half of 2026 quickly approaches. Ed Shea knows that Shea Concrete Products secret weapon is its team of experts and that“ Teamwork Makes The Dream Work”!
