PRESIDENT’ S MESSAGE

Dear ASCE New Hampshire Members,
As we move through another busy summer, I ' m reminded of how much our profession continues to evolve. Transportation, infrastructure, and the communities we serve are changing faster than ever, and as civil engineers, we ' re in a unique position to help shape what comes next.
One of the things I ' ve enjoyed most during my time as ASCE President is seeing the dedication of our members. Whether you ' re mentoring students, volunteering with your local Section or Branch, serving on a committee, or working every day to improve the infrastructure in your community, you ' re making a difference. ASCE is successful because of the commitment and passion of its volunteers.
As engineers, we often focus on solving technical challenges, but some of our greatest opportunities come from building relationships. Taking the time to connect with fellow engineers, students, public officials, and industry partners strengthens both our profession and our communities. Those conversations often lead to new ideas, new partnerships, and better solutions.
That ' s one reason I ' m looking forward to the ASCE Foundation Golf Tournament on August 7. While it ' s always a great day on the course, it ' s also an opportunity to support the ASCE Foundation and its mission of investing in the future of civil engineering. The scholarships, student programs, leadership development, and outreach efforts funded through the Foundation help prepare the next generation of engineers who will tackle tomorrow ' s challenges. Whether you ' re playing, sponsoring, or volunteering, I encourage you to be part of this important event.
As we continue through the year, I encourage each of you to stay engaged with ASCE. Attend a meeting, mentor a younger engineer, participate in one of our conferences, or simply introduce yourself to someone new at your next event. Our Society is strongest when we share our knowledge, support one another, and work together to advance the profession.
Thank you for everything you do for ASCE and for the communities you serve. I look forward to seeing many of you in the coming months— and hopefully on the golf course on August 7.
Best regards, William Hess, PE President, ASCE New Hampshire Section
