9 . Hydrate your face and body while skin is damp

The aim of hydrating serums and lotions is to plug moisture into the skin , and in turn trap it there . Secondly , some ultra hydrating ingredients , like hyaluronic acid , need moisture in order to work their skin-plumping magic . So , it ’ s best to apply your hydrating products quickly after the shower , while the skin is still damp . The products will utilize better trap said moisture to keep skin soft and firm . ( Yeah , it can make spreading lotion a little awkward , but so be it .)
Oh , and start with your face : By applying your face products first ( before the body lotion , and certainly before the hair products ), you run less risk of accidentally transfer uring comedogenic ingredients from the hair stylers and body creams into your facial pores .

10 . Be gentle with wet hair

There ’ s a reason that wet hair looks longer : The water weighs hair down , while also being absorbed into each strand . “ This absorption results in the breakage of fibers and bonds that make up the hair ’ s cortex ( outer coating ), which unfolds and elongates the hair ,” Harth says . “ These broken bonds weaken the hair strands and make them more susceptible to damage .” For that reason , it ’ s important to never brush hair when wet . “ Instead , use a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle it . Never aggressively rub wet hair , either . This leads to frizz , tangles , and damaged hair . Instead , use a microfiber towel or old t-shirt to dab out the excess moisture .”
