Retail Tail
In May, a new initiative to sketch with your customers was rolled out. Sly
Martinez, Sales Manager at Store 19, was excited to share his successful
experience in his very first week of sketching.
“Mr. and Mrs. Brakefield came into the store and were looking for their first bedroom
set as a couple!! The kicker is that they have been married for 16 years now and still
just have a mattress sitting on the box springs and rails. After working with the wife
on what she envisioned and priced out most of the pieces to the set, I asked the
couple about the shape of the room. David Brakefield stated it looked like a trapezoid.
After my slightly off attempt at sketching their room shape, he grabbed my pad and
drew an outline of the room. They intended on buying a king size bed, nightstand and
dresser. We did a little remodeling and moved the bed against a different wall to open
up space for a second nightstand. This also opened up room for a chest of drawers
across the room so he can remount his TV against that wall. We took the visuals from
our sketching to make sure that their “first” bedroom set was going to be perfect for
their room. The additional product
amount for the extra nightstand and
chest of drawers was $439.98. These
customers are excited and can’t wait to
get their new set!” Sly Martinez
