" Bringing Affordability Home " Campaign Launched
AAMD / CAA launched the“ Bringing Affordability Home” campaign in January 2026 as part of an effort to help facilitate stronger connections between legislators and constituents around housing stability and the overall cost of living.
The campaign was designed to encourage more thoughtful, coordinated policymaking and elevate conversations around the cumulative impact of complex, overlapping housing regulations, with the goal of supporting long-term stability, affordability, and opportunity for Coloradoans while helping keep the American Dream within reach. By the end of the legislative session, the campaign had garnered support from nearly 2,000 Coloradoans statewide.
We believe the campaign helped make a meaningful impact on the broader policy conversation, as several of the proposals we were most concerned about ultimately did not advance through the legislature. In many cases, feedback from legislators and stakeholders indicated a desire to conduct additional stakeholder engagement and collaboration before reintroducing those concepts in future sessions— an outcome that closely aligned with the campaign’ s goal of encouraging more deliberate, coordinated policymaking around housing issues.

This year’ s NAA Advocate was a tremendous success for the Colorado Apartment Association, as 20 CAA members traveled to Washington, D. C., to advocate for the rental housing industry and meet directly with federal legislators.
After receiving briefings on key national housing issues and industry priorities, members spent a full day on Capitol Hill sharing first hand insight into how legislation impacts apartment communities, housing providers, and residents across Colorado. These conversations are critical to ensuring lawmakers understand the importance of the multifamily housing industry and the need for policies that support housing affordability, operational stability, and continued housing development. Through every meeting, CAA members strengthened relationships with elected officials and demonstrated the powerful impact advocacy can have on shaping the future of rental housing. www. aamdhq. org TRENDS JUNE 2026 | 25
