Girls ' BAHS Indoor Track Season Wrap-Up
The Bellefonte Indoor Track and Field team completed their season in February at Penn State. As the program continues to grow and thrive, so do overall team performances. BAHS student-athletes competed in a number of meets and excelled by breaking several indoor school records. There were a total of twelve indoor records broken during the season, six for the girls’ and six for the boys.
For the girls’ team, it was a lot of the same success we saw with the boys’. Senior Natalie Jolley broke the 3000m indoor school record at the first meet of the season and then rebroke her own record the second time she raced the 3000m. The new indoor school record time that Natalie set currently stands at 11:07.51.
When it came to field events, junior Althea Helms set the standard for Long Jump at Bucknell University on January 25th. Althea broke the previous record, set by Sara Proctor in 2024, by over seven inches. The new indoor Long Jump record is 16’ 11”. Althea now owns the indoor 60m, 200m, 400m, long jump and triple jump records and is a member of the following indoor school record relays: 4x200m, 4x400m, 4x800m, and DMR. With the exception of the 4x200m, all relay records were set during the 2025-26 indoor track and field season.
Helms joined teammates senior Madyson Miller( who is also a member of the four indoor school record relay teams), Natalie Jolley, and senior Addison Fry in the DMR and produced a time of 13:52.46 at Bucknell on January 25th.
The girls 4x800m relay team first broke the indoor school record in December and then re-broke the record in January. The team of Helms, Miller, Jolley, and Fry set the record in December. The current record stands with a time of 10:00.10 and is held by teammates Jolley, senior Anna Tyson, Miller, and Helms. The relay will end the indoor season with the highest ranking in school history by being ranked in the Top 40 in the state.
Finally, at the Penn State meet in February, the foursome of Helms, Fry, Miller, and freshman Kaylee Knepp set the new indoor 4x400m relay with a time of 4:14.21. This broke the previous record by over seven seconds. The ability to interchange athletes in relays is what helps build the program and continue the success that has been set before them.
