LAPS- Lycoming Animal Protection Society 630 Wildwood Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701( 570) 327-8707 / lapsshelter. org
Lycoming Animal Protection Society( LAPS) is a no-kill cat shelter in Williamsport. Originally founded in 1992 in Montoursville, LAPS has helped protect and adopt out thousands of cats over the past three decades. We are a non-profit organization and are proud to be a haven for homeless felines.
If you are looking to adopt, LAPS has many wonderful cats that would love to have an opportunity to meet you and win your heart. Please stop by during our visiting hours, or contact us at lapsshelter @ gmail. com or( 570) 327-8707 to set up a time to visit the shelter.
All LAPS residents are given a physical at the veterinarian ' s office upon entry to the shelter. They also are tested for feline leukemia and FIV( feline immunodeficiency virus), kept current on their vaccinations, and spayed / neutered. If they are not old enough to be spayed / neutered before adoption, a certificate will be provided to a participating veterinarian who will perform the operation at no extra cost.
LAPS wants to ensure that our residents never again have to worry about being homeless. We have a simple adoption form that we ask potential adopters to complete and sign, with some questions concerning the adopter ' s residence( own, rent, etc.), some basic questions about animal care and needs, etc. We also ask that you sign a form that states you will provide a home for the lifetime of the cat or will return him / her to the LAPS shelter. Adoption fees help offset the cost of the vetting and care. Cats older than 6 months old are just $ 75, kittens 6 months and younger are $ 100. Our full list of adoptable cats is available on the LAPS Petfinder page.
Interested in helping out? There are several ways you can assist the cats, but you may be interested in our sponsor program. If so, just email us for information. You can also make a cash donation to help with everyday expenses like utilities, heating, cooling, and veterinary bills. LAPS is always looking for new volunteers. If you are crafty, like to bake, or just want to donate some time to work at a fundraising event, call or email us. Your assistance is needed and will be greatly appreciated.
