We begin summer break

The Charbonneau Women’ s Association is on break for the summer months. The club year ended with a fashion show at our May luncheon. We were served a plated lunch by
“ It’ s Party Time” catering so we could all relax and enjoy the food and the socializing throughout the luncheon time. Afterwards six of our
BENESH members modeled fashions from“ The
Difference” in Lake Oswego. Babs Osterud was the fashion commentator. Her assistant, Daron, changed each model’ s look with jackets, scarves, jewelry and shoes. It was an interesting and fun show planned by chairpersons Kathy Fisher and Robin Gowdy.
The luncheons serve as the general meetings for the CWA, so a little end of the year business was conducted. President, Bee Benesh thanked the board members who served for the 2024-25 year. The 2025-26 board members were then introduced and elected with acclamation. The official board turnover will occur at the time of the June 2 board meeting when the two groups will enjoy a potluck brunch in the card room of The Clubhouse. Even though there are no planned CWA activities during the summer months, the board and committees will have some meetings as they make plans for the year ahead. We hope that you enjoyed the CWA luncheons and programs this year and will plan on joining us next year. Membership information will be available next month and the new forms will then be available in the activity center closet.

Try out Stretchercise

The Villager offers this list of activities that can improve you fitness, health and well-being. We also highlighting one class or instructor each issue. This month, we are featuring Stretchercise.
Here’ s what instructor Christina Lucy said about the class:
It’ s easy to find reasons to skip exercise, but what if there was a class that combined both strength training and stretching in a way that’ s fun, easy on the joints and even helps improve your golf game? At Charbonneau, we have just the solution for you: Stretchercise!
Stretchercise is a one-hour class designed specifically for those who want to stay active, improve flexibility and build strength without overexerting themselves. The class is divided into two parts: The first half-hour focuses on strength training using light weights, exercise bands, and balls— all to the upbeat tunes of 1950s and‘ 60s music. The second half is all about relaxation and rejuvenation, with gentle stretching accompanied by calming
music.
This combination of strength and flexibility training offers amazing benefits, especially for older adults. Increasing your flexibility can improve joint health and mobility, while strengthening muscles and bones can help prevent falls and injuries. As an instructor who has been teaching exercise since the 1980s, I’ m passionate about helping my students feel their best. In fact, many participants have shared how Stretchercise has made a difference in their lives— some have noticed an improvement in their golf game, while others report better sleep and relief from hip and back pain.
Stretchercise classes are held at 11:15 a. m. on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Charbonneau Activity Center. Whether you’ re new to fitness or a mid-level exerciser, this class is a perfect way to stay active and enjoy the benefits of both strength and stretching exercises.
Stretchercise is waiting for you! Come try a class if this sounds like something you need and will enjoy. To schedule your first class, contact Christina Lucy at 971- 409-4659. Get ready to feel better, move better and live better!
