Step 8 Fry for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. You don’ t want it too pale or it’ ll go soft and floppy once it cools. That golden crispy batter coating really helps to hold the shape together.
Step 9 Once it’ s cooked, place the dagwood dog cake on some paper towel to soak up any extra oil. I like to serve mine with a lemon curd or strawberry coolie( it’ s the perfect‘ mustard’ or‘ tomato’ sauce) for something tasty and delicious!
Tip: After frying, the cake will be soft on the inside. If you try to hold it upright by the skewer, it might slide down. So just make sure to support the dagwood dog cake with your hand when serving or eating.
