WHEN YOU ASK SOMEONE TO CONSIDER WHICH U . S . CITIES HAVE THE MOST PRIDE , it ’ s easy to assume their minds might immediately conjure up visions of colorful , glittery floats in New York or San Francisco . That is unless you ask a Providence resident . Whether part of the LGBTQ + community or not , they know the real answer — it ’ s nearly impossible to miss the rainbow flags waving from houses and businesses in every neighborhood , or to ignore the massive throng of joyful queers who flock here each June . But what they might not realize is just how deep it runs throughout the entirety of our little state — from a long history of transgender trailblazers to the groups and nonprofits that work tirelessly to provide individuals with a sense of community and belonging . And that ’ s something Little Rhody certainly should be proud of . So , if you ’ re interested in learning how you can properly appreciate and celebrate this beautiful month locally , just follow the rainbow .
