CONTRIBUTORS
Contributing photographer Chad Weeden photographed everyone featured in the photo essay “ Faces of Pride ,” taking the time to make each person feel comfortable . “ As a portrait photographer , being able to bring out the best of people ’ s true selves is such an inspiration ,” he says . “ No matter who is standing in front of the camera , it ’ s always a bit intimidating . Connecting with each person , hearing their stories , getting the music and light right leads to authentic moments . And if that ’ s not enough , it helps to have a bright pink chair on set , too .”
This month in Current [“ Modern Dad ”], contributing writer Tony Pacitti reviews Attachments , the new collection of essays about fatherhood by Providence author Lucas Mann . “ I ’ m really in awe of Lucas ’ beautiful words and perspective on parenting . I recognized so many of my own challenges , fears and joys in his experiences , and I was so taken by how he has documented what it ’ s like to be a dad during the last few years .” He lives with his family on the wrong side of the Washington Bridge .
Andy Smith has been a newspaper journalist for about forty years , including thirty years at The Providence Journal from 1988 – 2018 , followed by freelance work for The Boston Globe , Providence Business News and back at the Journal . For his piece in Current [“ Origin Story ”], Smith interviewed author Don Winslow for the third time in his life , once after each book in his trilogy was published . “ Each time , he insisted he will stop writing books after the trilogy is finished ,” Smith says . “ I bet him a beer at the Ocean Mist that someday he will write another book . I ’ m looking forward to collecting .” 🆁
